Industrial Partners

Over the last 18 months the Manchester Bobber has attracted an enviable consortium of industrial partners. The role of the industrial partners is to translate The Manchester Bobber technology developed at the University of Manchester. Each partner provides an expertise which when combined is capable of designing, manufacturing, installing and maintaining the Manchester Bobber on a commercial scale off-shore.

Burntisland Fabrications Ltd

Burntisland Fabrications Ltd

Burntisland Fabrications Ltd (BiFab) is the largest independent specialist fabrication company, based in Scotland for: Decks; Modules; Jackets; PAUs: PARs: Subsea; Accommodation; Minimum Facilities Platforms; Drilling Units and Exotics/Pipework for the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical and Alternative Energy Industries.

More and more, as a company, BiFab is becoming involved - at the “front end” - in innovative renewables projects where we are able to apply our expertise to provide practical and cost effective solutions to the development team. We pride ourselves in the fact that our clients in these projects perceive us as a proactive contributor to the overall achievement of project goals, rather than just “the fabricator”.

During the execution of the Talsiman Beatrice Project, Bifab, Talisman, Scottish & Southern Energy and Scottish Enterprise in conjunction with Strathclyde University commissioned a joint study regarding mass manufacturing of Jacket Substructures. With an aim to develop a facility that will produce a minimum of 80 Jacket Substructures per year.

We believe this new facility will meet a considerable portion of the aspirations of the European community with regard to the UK’s commitments to sustainable energy production 35GW for 2020.

BiFab is a proactive company willing to embrace new techniques to help make future technology such as the Manchester Bobber a reality.

BiFab are pleased to work with the Manchester Bobber Company Limited and to be part of the Manchester Bobber industrial consortium.
